The Trip to the National Archives typically leaves before 7:30 a.m. from Fredericksburg and returns around 6:00 p.m.
The train schedule varies, so please contact The American History Company at (540) 710-9470 for exact times of departure and arrival. If it is more convenient to meet the group closer to the Archives., please let us know where you will be meeting us in advance. If at all possible, however, arrange to ride up with the rest of the group. You may find it easier to ask preparatory questions before you get to the archives. Similarly, you will have more free time to have your questions answered on the way home.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to not bring any original documents with you. They may be confiscated by the Archives staff until they can verify that no documents are missing. You may make copies of documents at the National Archives- the machines only accept bills, however.
Lunch is own your own. The Lunch room and snack bar are in the basement of the Archives building. They serve hot and cold sandwiches, soups, chips, beverages and candy- lunches range from as little as $2 to as much as $6. You may also pack your own lunch and bring it to eat in the lunch room.
